SUMMARY:General Meeting & Presentation: Avoiding Sneaky Pete - Protecting Your Genealogical Privacy
DESCRIPTION:While the advent of the internet has made connecting with far-flung relatives possible\, it also opens up the possibilities for identity theft and other nefarious activities. The same tools that help researchers discover new family links and share history can open your family up to the Sneaky Petes of the world. Learn to make yourself less of a target without delaying or stopping your research. \n\n\n\nFor a guest pass email President@davisgenealogy.org \n\n\n\nDresden is a consultant\, entrepreneur\, and social organizer specializing in systems thinking\, logistics\, and safety. A lover of adventure and learning\, she finds herself exploring new ventures regularly\, working with teams around the world to find innovative solutions and exploring new possibilities. Dresden received her MA from Pepperdine’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology\, and speaks internationally on topics such as community development\, safety and growth strategies\, as well as culture and history preservation.Although not a genealogist herself\, Dresden’s mother has been an avid proponent of new research methods\, including being an early adapter to internet systems and DNA testing. After spending quite a few hours discussing safety strategies with her\, Dresden began working with other genealogists to promote safety while protecting the family historian’s innate curiosity and community.
