SUMMARY:Topic Talk - Ireland
DESCRIPTION:The classic PF (Potato Famine) story? Or late 1800s ocean-crosser? Mid-20th century immigrant? All and more are possible. No shamrocks here. No leprechauns\, no green beer. What are the best resources you’ve used? Regale us with successes and setbacks. Stories\, tips\, and maybe a little blarney. Redux of one of our most attended Topic Talks of 2019. And that’s no blarney\, sure ‘tis true. It’s an Irish Fling!

SUMMARY:Finding Records to Help Document Your Farming Ancestor
DESCRIPTION:Up to the 1870s\, farming was the number one occupations. You probably have a large number of farmers in your family. There are many records sets that document our farming ancestors such as land\, tax\, and probate records. Newspapers and many agricultural records can add context to their story. \n\n\n\nLisa S. Gorrell\, a Certified Genealogist\, has been seriously researching her family for more than twenty-five years on both sides of her family tree which includes German\, Irish\, and US southern. She also has researched her husband’s family tree that consists of English\, German and Swedish ancestry. She volunteers at the Contra Costa County Historical Society’s archives at the History Center in Martinez. \n\n\n\nShe enjoys giving genealogy presentations and writing about her family on two blogs “Mam-ma’s Southern Family“ and “My Trails into the Past”.
