Introduction to Mexican Genealogy Research

April 21, 2026 @ 1:00 pm

The public is invited to an “Introduction to Mexican Genealogy Research”, hosted by the Davis Genealogy Club on Tuesday, April 21st, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, in the Davis Senior Center’s Valente Room. This free, remote presentation will be shown on the big screen with a live audience. Refreshments provided by club members will follow the presentation and Q&A.

This lecture offers an introduction to important foundational concepts in Mexican family research (names, jurisdictions and governmental entities, language resources, etc.), as well as an overview of the abundant church and civil records available online.

Lisa Medina is a professional genealogist and experienced lecturer, applying her background in teaching to all her presentations. She is an alum of several genealogical institutes and education programs (ProGen, SLIG, Gen-Fed) and her research expertise is in Mexican Genealogy.  When not researching, Lisa is the Director of Admissions and University Registrar at California State University, San Marcos.

Guests may attend the meeting in person, or via Zoom by emailing President@DavisGenealogy.org. Learn all about us by visiting DavisGenealogy.org or simply visiting a meeting.

The Club’s Genealogy Library in the Davis Senior Center is home to over 1,300 volumes and is open to the public on Wednesdays from 1 – 3:30 p.m. as well as the hour before our monthly meetings. Guests may ask for a library tour at the end of the meeting.
